“The purpose of life is to live it” — Ambassadors’ life in Kronos

Kronos Research is a leading quantitative crypto investment manager dedicated to solving complex problems through cutting-edge technology and rigorous research. Our value is created by a talented engineering team that is able to continuously structure systematic solutions in a landscape that is always in flux. The ever-changing nature of the problems we seek to solve requires us to constantly seek out new innovative minds to join the team. We started our campus ambassador program because we believe that training the next generation is critical for the continued success of our company. We have completed several campus events and company visits with the goal of showing the path to an exciting career and offering the opportunity to develop the skills needed to become a quantitative trader. Our second batch of ambassadors just completed their program last week and enjoyed having the opportunity to experience this exciting industry first-hand. The following are a few of our most recent ambassadors describing their experience at Kronos Research.

By Victoria Wang, NTU Ambassador

“The purpose of life is to live it, to taste experience to the utmost, to reach out eagerly and without fear for a newer and richer experience.” As a student who had never previously had an internship, my experience at Kronos opened many new doors. The quote above, as stated by Eleanor Roosevelt, describes the feeling of excitement and eagerness I had when I was accepted by Kronos. After the three-month ambassador program, I established three vital skills I would have never learned in school. The first skill is knowing how to maximise my connections, meaning knowing how to utilise the relationships and interactions between myself and others. These include my friends, schoolmates, and anyone I have met on different occasions. By providing information to them and receiving valuable feedback, I realised the true power of connection. The second skill that I developed is the ability to organise. How something is done or arranged matters because it ultimately affects the quality of the results. In fact, the process of organising is both a science and an art. I had to comprehend my priorities while fully planning and taking all necessary information into consideration. Without actually experiencing this first-hand, I would have never understood the steps to becoming an effective organiser. Last but not least is the skill of communication. I had to communicate clearly with everyone related to my work without creating conflicts or an unpleasant working environment. It was my responsibility to understand the requirements of others deeply and to give appropriate responses.

“Quant trading” and “Crypto-currency” are some terms that sound fancy yet mysterious to most students because there are no college majors directly related to this field. However, it is an exciting industry where smart ideas are greatly rewarded. As an ambassador, I brainstormed and explored the different opportunities to let students take a peek into what Kronos is doing. During this journey, there were frustrating moments when I found some ideas were not so easy to implement. Despite these frustrations, it was nice to cooperate with other ambassadors. I enjoyed my time here!

When I first came to the interview, I was really startled by the atmosphere at Kronos. The core team members were talented individuals who graduated from top schools. I was also interviewed by 5 interviewers, including Charlene, who is in charge of this program, full-time engineers, and the CEO, Jack. This showed the importance of the campus ambassador program to the company. In addition to being highly interested in this industry, I was attracted to the company’s ambitious goal of enabling people to control their financial freedom after my short conversation with Jack. Afterwards, I decided to become a member of the ambassadors. In fact, the program is highly autonomous and gives ambassadors a lot of freedom. The program aims to bring awareness to Kronos’s mission and to make connections with students and professors. After my time at Kronos, I was very happy to hear the positive feelings expressed by the future ambassadors who were recently interviewed. Finally, I would like to say that I am very honoured to have had this experience at a company with great potential.

We are excited to see that the Ambassador Program made such a big impact and gave our ambassadors valuable experience. All of our ambassadors did an outstanding job during their time with us. Thanks to their efforts, Kronos Research also raised our brand awareness across different campuses over the past few months. The next batch of ambassadors will soon be onboard. We look forward to continuing the journey with our new ambassadors and continuing to offer future ambassadors a first-hand look into this industry. Through our ambassador program, we will continue cultivating our next generation of traders and raising awareness of the Kronos mission.
